Empowering Through Music

I’m Walter, and I specialize in refurbishing drum kits from my home in northeast Vermont. I have been a music lover my entire life, mesmerized by various genres from a young age.

I began playing drums in my garage band phase as a teenager in the ‘60s, and as recently as 2019, I decided to refine my skills with private lessons upon retiring from my 35 years as the owner of The Hausermann Insurance Agency.

Over the years, I’ve honed my skills in tuning, cleaning, and repairing used kits. I take pride in –and truly enjoy – returning drums to their former glory. My wife Natalie and I have a mission to donate quality restored drum kits to music programs and drummers of all ages and skill levels. Natalie shares my love of music, plays the violin on occasion, and has filled our home with avariety of musical instruments that she encourages our grandkids to experiment with.

This past year, with many of Vermont’s school budgets facing cuts and challenges, I worried that music and arts classes could be compromised. The idea of donating drum equipment to school programs is a perfect fit for me, as it helps programs or musicians in need, and it fulfills a goal I’ve focused upon accomplishing throughout my life: supporting communities of all kinds. When I’m not working on a drum kit, you can find me exploring local music scenes: supporting, encouraging, and promoting local musicians. I have ongoing health concerns, and drumming helps keep me focused on the fun things in life. Natalie is the perfect partner in this venture, and together we hope to bring some joy to people. It doesn’t hurt that our blended family is rich with musicians and/or music-lovers, so our life is always filled with, and forever changed by, music.
